Astros to start McCullers, Morton in some order in World Series

Thomas B. Shea / USA TODAY Sports

As expected, the Houston Astros have finalized their World Series rotation, rounding it out with right-handers Lance McCullers and Charlie Morton. It's just the order that's still a mystery.

Manager A.J. Hinch told MLB.com's Brian McTaggart that the pair will start Games 3 and 4 for the Astros, but didn't specify who will get each game.

McCullers finished the ALCS in style, pitching four shutdown innings against the New York Yankees and effectively ending their season. He's been mostly effective throughout the postseason, posting a 2.08 ERA with 13 strikeouts over 13 innings.

Morton has been less impressive, but the bulk of the damage against him came in one game. He allowed seven runs on six hits against the Yankees in his first start in the series. In Game 7, before Houston turned to McCullers in relief, Morton tossed five scoreless innings, giving up only two hits.

The move also sets the Astros up to piggyback their starters in a similar manner as they did during the ALCS finale should the World Series go to seven games.

They've already announced Dallas Keuchel and Justin Verlander will start Games 1 and 2, respectively.
