Marisnick won't be included on World Series roster

Despite feeling healthy enough to contribute, Jake Marisnick won't be included on the World Series roster for the Houston Astros.

The outfielder said Monday that he was hopeful that he'd have a shot at playing in his first World Series, but manager A.J. Hinch quickly ruled him out when speaking with reporters, according to Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle.

Marisnick was expected to miss the entire postseason after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured right thumb. He said that most of his recovery had gone well, though did admit that he has yet to really test his thumb with a bat in his hands.

"Hitting is kind of the big question mark right now," Marisnick told reporters. "I haven't gotten a chance to do it ... Throwing, defense, running, everything feels good. It's just kind of a matter with where they want to go with the roster."

Marisnick appeared in 106 games during the regular season, seeing time in all three outfield positions but playing primarily in center. The 26-year-old hit .243/.319/.496 with a career-high 16 homers, also adding nine stolen bases.
