McKinney High School running back Matt Gadek had a night to remember Thursday, setting a UIL 11-man single-game rushing record with 599 yards in a 63-50 victory over Plano East.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound senior broke the previous record of 587 yards, set by Somerville's Daryl Ellis in 1998, according to Greg Riddle and Lary Bump of the Dallas Morning News. The national record for most rushing yards in a game is 754.

Gadek credited McKinney's offensive line for his performance.

"I knew we had a chance the whole game," he said. "They couldn't stop our O-line. We just kept pounding the rock. I have the best O-line in the state. They were trying to load the box and we just ran some quick slants on them."
