Scully: 'I honestly don't feel I belong' in World Series broadcast booth

Despite the Los Angeles Dodgers earning their first World Series berth since 1988, their long-time broadcaster Vin Scully won't be coming out of retirement to lend his Hall of Fame game-calling to the Fall Classic.

"I honestly don't feel I belong there and I would not want anyone to think I was eager for a spotlight," Scully told Tom Hoffarth of the Los Angeles Daily News when asked if he had a desire to call the World Series.

Scully served 67 years as the voice of Dodgers baseball, including eight seasons during their tenure in Brooklyn, before retiring following the 2016 season.

When prompted whether he would make himself available for media interviews, Scully maintained to Hoffarth that he is "trying to keep a low profile."

The 89-year-old sportscaster rejected the notion to rejoin the booth back in August when SportsNet LA play-by-play announcer Joe Davis told fans he would love to call a game with Scully. The erstwhile Dodgers broadcaster maintained that he was "done," telling Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times, "once upon a time comes around once."
