USC's Fatu in concussion protocol following multi-car accident

Kirby Lee / USA TODAY Sports

USC suffered a potentially significant defensive blow Tuesday, as Trojans head coach Clay Helton announced starting defensive tackle Josh Fatu is currently in concussion protocol after his involvement in a multi-car accident.

Helton said Fatu was not at fault in the accident, and is currently listed as day to day.

The Trojans will have some difficulty replacing Fatu's production should he not be cleared to play in time for Saturday's matchup against Notre Dame, as the senior has already contributed 27 total tackles, 4.5 sacks, and a forced fumble this season.
