Oregon's Taggart believes Herbert will return 'quicker than we think'

Oregon has been without the services of starting quarterback Justin Herbert for the last two weeks, but head coach Willie Taggart believes a hidden element could speed up the sophomore's recovery process.

What hidden element is that? Why, it's Herbert's love of milk, of course.

Taggart spoke to reporters on Monday regarding Herbert's enthusiasm and desire to return to the football field, and illustrated the gunslinger's strategy of upping his calcium intake in an attempt to make his fractured collarbone heal faster, according to Andrew Greif of The Oregonian.

"I know he's been drinking his milk," Taggart said. "I'm sure he'll get back quicker than we think. Literally he's been drinking his milk, sitting with him at dinner the other night he had two cartons."

Taggart confirmed that Herbert began throwing last week, and that he "threw the ball yesterday pretty well," but that he has still not been cleared to play, according to Greif.

Backups Taylor Alie and Braxton Brumeister have filled in for Herbert since he went down with injury on Sept. 30 against California, and the Ducks' 17 points over the last two games has been the fewest over a two-game stretch since 1992.
