Woods medically cleared to resume full golf activities
Tiger Woods has been given medical clearance to resume full golf activities, his agent, Mark Steinberg, told Bob Harig of ESPN.
Woods underwent fusion surgery on his lower back six months ago, and over recent weeks has shared progress of his recovery process with videos. The process started with simple pitch shots, grew to fluent iron swings, and eventually led to hitting driver, a scene that drew plenty of buzz from the golf world Sunday night.
While his every move will be micro-analyzed until he returns to the Tour, Woods is being cautious as he works his way back.
"He got a nice report and is allowed to proceed," Steinberg said. "He can do as much as he needs to do. Tiger is going to take this very, very slowly. This is good but he plans to do it the right way."
Woods, now 41, hasn't played in a tournament since withdrawing from the Dubai Desert Classic in February, putting an end to his most recent comeback bid.
The timetable for a competitive return is still unclear, though at this point it appears it may come sooner than expected.
