Report: Baldwin out as Grizzlies keep Chalmers, Harrison

The Memphis Grizzlies will waive or attempt to trade point guard Wade Baldwin IV - the team's first-round draft pick in 2016 - before Monday's roster deadline, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Grizzlies will keep veteran point guard Mario Chalmers, as well as Andrew Harrison on their roster, according to Wojnarowski.

It's not common at all for first-round picks to be waived so early in their careers. Baldwin was taken 17th in the 2016 draft, and at the time was envisioned as the potential heir to Mike Conley. However, he only played in 33 games as a rookie, shooting just 31 percent from the floor.

It's good news for Chalmers however, who sat out the entire 2016-17 season with a ruptured Achilles tendon.

The Grizzlies are also expected to waive or attempt to trade 2016 second-round pick Rade Zagorac.
