Report: Washington State president to meet with Leach amid exit speculation

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Washington State president Kirk Schulz will meet with Mike Leach on Monday and is determined to keep the football coach in Pullman, a source told Stefanie Loh of the Seattle Times.

Leach's status with the Cougars appears unsettled after athletic director Bill Moos left Washington State on Sunday for the same position at Nebraska. Leach and Moos had a strong working relationship, leading to rumors that Moos could lure him to the Cornhuskers.

Leach is in his sixth season at Washington State, and has led the program from the bottom portion of the Pac-12 standings to the upper tier.

He's currently in charge of a 6-1 Cougars team that was ranked eighth nationally before losing Friday night to Cal. The defeat dropped them to No. 15 in the AP Poll.
