Nebraska didn't wait long to find its new athletic director as the school has hired Washington State's Bill Moos to fill the position.

"Nebraska has secured a proven winner in Bill Moos to lead Husker Athletics into a new era of excellence," University Chancellor Ronnie Green said in a statement. "It was clear that Bill stood out in a very competitive, tremendously gifted pool of candidates, not only because of his proven ability to lead programs to greatness, but because of his reputation for integrity in building and leading those programs."

The 66-year-old, who has agreed to a five-year deal, will fill the position that became available when Nebraska fired Shawn Eichorst on Sept. 21st.

Moos has spent the last seven years with Washington State after leading Oregon's athletics from 1995-2007. One of his biggest moves with the Cougars was to hire Mike Leach as head football coach, a decision that has paid off handsomely for the Pac-12 program.
