Jeter says Marlins will donate $200K to hurricane relief efforts

Jasen Vinlove / USA TODAY Sports

Miami Marlins CEO and part owner Derek Jeter announced on Saturday that the team will donate $200,000 to Hurricane Irma relief efforts, according to Andy Slater of 940-AM WINZ.

Irma, a Category 5 tropical storm, struck Marco Island, FL on Sept. 5 and has caused devastation throughout parts of Miami. Several teams from the area, including the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins, have donated $1 million to relief efforts.

Parts of the storm affected Marlins Park, as its outer surface was damaged despite the organization announcing the roof would remain open throughout the hurricane.
