James Franklin, Penn State reaffirm commitment amid Texas A&M rumors

It doesn't appear that James Franklin is going anywhere, as Penn State and its head coach reaffirmed their commitment towards each other on Friday.

This comes a day after a report from CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd stated that Penn State was preparing for Texas A&M to make a run at Franklin should Kevin Sumlin be fired.

"Nothing has changed from the commitment we made to Coach Franklin and the commitment James made to Penn State just before this season started," Penn State said in a statement obtained by Tom VanHaaren of ESPN on Friday.

While there may be multiple reasons for the Texas A&M interest, Franklin appeared to float his theory of it being an attempt to slow the Nittany Lions' recruiting efforts down.

The Pennsylvania native is currently leading the No. 3 team in the country and the No. 3 recruiting class for 2018 having pulled in top-level names from around the United States.

Franklin recently inked an extension that will keep him with Penn State through 2022 should he so choose, and the way things are currently going, he'd be crazy to leave for the Aggies or any other program.
