Report: Tennessee to start Guarantano at QB vs. South Carolina

Randy Sartin / USA TODAY Sports

Tennessee is benching quarterback Quinten Dormady in favor of Jarrett Guarantano, who will start Saturday versus South Carolina, sources confirmed to Chris Low of ESPN.

Dormady started the Volunteers' first five games of the season but enjoyed little success. Guarantano, a freshman, hasn't fared much better in his three appearances, going 12-of-24 for 54 yards and a touchdown.

Rumors of a quarterback change began swirling early Tuesday afternoon, with some reports suggesting Dormady is contemplating a transfer after losing his starting job. However, multiple Tennessee players told Clay Travis of FOX Sports Radio that the reportedly disgruntled junior attended practice Tuesday.

The Vols are coming off their bye week and head into Saturday's contest with a 3-2 record. They lost 41-0 to Georgia two weeks ago.
