Jim Harbaugh doesn't want the media to close the book on Wilton Speight just yet.

Days after the Michigan quarterback's season was reported to be in jeopardy due to three fractured vertebrae, Harbaugh spoke to the media to quell any assumptions regarding Speight's potential to return this season.

“I don’t know if he’ll be out for the year,” Harbaugh said Monday, according to Ryan Connors of Land of 10. “There’s some cracks in there (the vertebrae). I’m not a doctor, but I think it’s similar to … that’s all I’m going to say.”

Speight was forced to leave Michigan's game against Purdue on Sept. 23 after being sacked by the Boilermaker defense, and Harbaugh later confirmed he would miss multiple weeks. Backup John O'Korn drew his first start since replacing Speight against Michigan State on Saturday, completing 16-of-35 passes for 198 yards, while throwing three interceptions.

Harbaugh said Monday that O'Korn will remain Michigan's starting quarterback in Week 7 against Indiana.
