ESPN's Finebaum: Arkansas is 'a complete and total dumpster fire'

There may be some fans willing to stand up and defend Arkansas' less than inspiring season thus far, but ESPN's Paul Finebaum made it adamantly clear Monday that he is not among them.

The SEC Network analyst offered his thoughts on the Razorbacks during his weekly appearance on WJOX radio in Birmingham, according to Nick Cole of SEC Country, and laid everything on the table when it came time to give his opinion of the program.

“Arkansas is a complete and total dumpster fire,” Finebaum told former Alabama quarterback Jay Barker on the show. “And I really don’t know where this program goes from here. I thought they had a chance to go on the road Saturday and maybe steal a win [at South Carolina]. They didn’t do it and instead looked bad in the process.”

Arkansas will be looking to bounce back from Saturday's loss to South Carolina when it hits the road to take on No. 1 Alabama, and that is something Finebaum doesn't exactly see as a great opportunity to right the ship.

“I mean, are you going to try to solve problems by going on the road at night at Bryant-Denny Stadium after Alabama had a subpar game?” he asked. “That’s a recipe for disaster."

Finebaum then took aim at the man leading the Razorbacks, criticizing not just Bielema's track record this season, but throughout his entire tenure at Arkansas as well.

“Now, I don’t know all the intricacies of Bret Bielema’s contract, but I do know what his record is - It is abysmal five years in," Finebaum said. "If reports are true that it would cost $15 million to buy him out, then where does Arkansas go and how could they possibly do that? Jay, those are questions I don’t know I understand… I think common sense will tell you this program has clearly gone in the wrong direction, and Arkansas fans have every right to be furious and questioning the leadership for this program.”
