Report: Injury forces King Mo out of Bellator 185 bout
Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal's return to light heavyweight will have to wait.
An undisclosed injury will keep Lawal from facing Liam McGeary in the co-main event of Bellator 185 later this month, a promotional official told MMAjunkie's Mike Bohn on Monday. A replacement opponent for McGeary is currently being sought.
The Bellator fixture has now pulled out of two straight bookings due to injury, the first a meeting with UFC import Ryan Bader at June's Bellator 180. Lawal last visited the cage as a heavyweight in March at Bellator 175, where he took his rematch with Quinton "Rampage" Jackson on points.
McGeary has split a pair of fights since losing the 205-pound crown to Phil Davis last November, stopping short-notice debutant Brett McDermott before tapping to fellow Brit Linton Vassell at Bellator 179 this past May.
Bellator 185 is scheduled for Oct. 20 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., and will feature a middleweight bout between the debuting Gegard Mousasi and Alexander Shlemenko in the main event.
