The San Antonio Spurs announced that All-Star wing Kawhi Leonard is expected to miss the entire 2017 preseason while recovering from right quadriceps tendinopathy.

The team's release states that "a timeline for his return to the court will be determined at a later date."

Leonard's 2017 playoff run was ended prematurely, but that was due to a left ankle sprain. Quadriceps tendinopathy involves the swelling of the tendon in the quadriceps, related to overworking the tendons.

The Spurs have five games on their 2017-18 preseason schedule, including stops in Sacramento and Houston, and home games against the Kings, Nuggets, and Magic.
