Report: Liverpool objecting to game at Arsenal on Christmas Eve

Liverpool reportedly doesn't support the idea of taking the pitch the day before Christmas.

According to the Guardian's Andy Hunter, the club is objecting to Sky Sports' plan of moving its Premier League game at Arsenal from Dec. 23 to Christmas Eve. The Reds are apparently aware of the proposal and are registering strong opposition to the broadcaster and league, arguing that it would be restrictive for supporters to travel to London.

Kick-off would allegedly be scheduled for 4:00 PM, and the last train from London Euston to Liverpool leaves at 9:21 PM, meaning supporters would arrive at Lime Street on Christmas Day. The Premier League will reportedly decide whether the switch goes ahead, while Sky Sports' preference is that the game is played on Christmas Eve.

Spirit of Shankly, Liverpool's supporters' union, voiced opposition to the plan, writing: "SOS are contacting relevant personnel to put forward our case that it is completely unacceptable to expect fans to travel for a match at this time. The suggestion of such a change again shows zero regard for supporters - much like the corresponding fixture where Euston station was closed over Bank Holiday weekend."

Liverpool is scheduled to host Swansea City on Boxing Day, while Arsenal will visit Crystal Palace on the same day.
