Louisville head coach Rick Pitino stood by an earlier statement Wednesday, saying that there is no evidence to support wrongdoing on his part in a widespread NCAA corruption investigation.

"The information disclosed thus far in the investigation is clearly insufficient to implicate Coach Pitino in any type of misconduct or other activity that would violate the terms of his contract," the coach said in a statement through lawyers. "In sum, Coach Pitino has done nothing wrong and there is no evidence to suggest otherwise. The rush to judgment is regrettable."

Pitino was placed on unpaid administrative leave, while Louisville A.D. Tom Jurich was put on paid administrative leave Wednesday. That stems from allegations that a player - widely accepted to be five-star recruit Brian Bowen - took a $100,000 payment from Adidas.

According to Pitino's contract, Louisville must give the Hall of Famer "10 days prior written notice and an opportunity to be heard," reports WHAS11's Derrick Rose.

Pitino's last few years at Louisville have been marred by controversy. He was due to serve a five-game suspension this season over a scandal in which escorts were provided to players and recruits. That ultimately may result in the vacating of Louisville's 2013 national championship. In 2010, Pitino dealt with a sex scandal of his own.

The 65-year-old Pitino was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.
