"Sports is so ... is so ..."

LeBron James paused momentarily Monday, searching for the words that could encapsulate the incredible power - and potential - of his unique position.

"It's so amazing, what sports can do for everyone. And it brings people together like none other."

So the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar was offended that President Donald Trump had "used sport as a platform to divide us," and had a message for people who voted for him: James doesn't agree with their decision, but Americans must now put aside their differences to make their country a better place.

"No matter if you voted for him or not, you may have made a mistake," James said at media day. "And that's OK. If you voted for him, that's OK. I've done things for my kids and realized I shouldn't have given my daughter that many damn Skittles. Maybe I shouldn't have done that; she won't go to sleep now."

James added, "Because we know this is the greatest country in the world. It's the land of the free. But we still have problems just like everybody else.

"And when we have those problems, we have to figure out a way to come together and be as great as we can be as a people. Because the people run this country, not a one individual, and damn sure not (Donald Trump)."
