Report: McClendon, Clark likely to be considered for Tigers' manager job

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Tigers are expected to consider internal candidates Lloyd McClendon and Dave Clark for their managerial opening, a source confirmed to Jon Morosi of MLB.com.

McClendon is in his second season as Tigers' hitting coach after being re-hired in 2016. He previously held the position from 2007-2013. He also has seven years of managerial experience, with the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2001-2005 and the Seattle Mariners in 2014 and 2015, compiling a 499-607 record.

Clark has been the Tigers' third base coach and outfield instructor since 2013. He previously spent five years with the Houston Astros as first and third base coach and also as the Astros interim manager for the final 13 games of the 2009 season.

The Tigers relieved manager Brad Ausmus of his duties last week after four seasons.
