McElwain mum on QB situation after Del Rio thrown back into mix

The seemingly never-ending assessment of Florida's quarterback situation will linger at least one more week, as head coach Jim McElwain said after Saturday's win he's unsure who'll start Sept. 30 versus Vanderbilt.

"We'll sit down and evaluate it and look at the video," he told reporters.

The Gators added a third quarterback to their controversy Saturday night, turning the huddle over to last year's starter, Luke Del Rio. The junior led Florida to a 28-27 comeback over Kentucky, though the Wildcats helped him by only fielding 10 defenders on the game-deciding touchdown.

Del Rio is the third Florida quarterback to see extended action this year. Though he threw the game-winning score against Kentucky, neither he nor any of the other pivots boast impressive numbers for the season.

QB CMP% YDS TDs INTs
Feleipe Franks 61 372 3 1
Malik Zaire 53 106 0 0
Luke Del Rio 64 73 1 1

"I'm not really worried about that right now," Del Rio said postgame when asked if he deserves the starting job, according to Nick de la Torre of Gator Country. "Just happy we won tonight."

Franks, a redshirt freshman, has started all three contests this season.
