South Carolina's Allen-Williams to have season-ending shoulder surgery

South Carolina narrowly escaped defeat Saturday with a 17-16 win over Louisiana Tech, but the Gamecocks weren't able to avoid bad news on the injury front.

South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp announced postgame that senior linebacker Bryson Allen-Williams will undergo shoulder surgery and miss the remainder of the season, according to Mike Uva of WachFox.

"He’s going to be out for the season," Muschamp said. "He’s going to have to have surgery. I’m disappointed for Bryson, but he does have a redshirt year and will be back."

Allen-Williams confirmed the news with an announcement of his own via Twitter.

"After talking to Coach Muschamp, doctors, and my family I will be getting surgery on my shoulder this week and will be out for the rest of the season," Allen-Williams said. "With that being said I will use my redshirt and stay for my RS senior season."

Prior to Saturday's game, Allen-Williams had recorded 10 tackles with two sacks and an interception in three games this season.
