The Miami Heat are hoping for big things this season.

Miami locked up its main contributors this summer, and team president Pat Riley is confident there's an opening in the East.

"We see an opportunity because there isn’t a Golden State in our conference or San Antonio or Houston," Riley said at a press conference Friday, per the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson. "We will take advantage if we can."

Last season's 13-game winning streak wasn't enough to overcome an abysmal 11-30 start, as Miami missed the playoffs on account of a tiebreaker.

Riley added that the Cleveland Cavaliers trading Kyrie Irving may cause them to lose a step, especially considering Isaiah Thomas' injury.

"Cleveland lost who I thought was next to Steph Curry, the best true point guard both ways in Kyrie Irving," he said. "They got a great one back but there are questions there."
