Clemson may have smoked Ohio State in the College Football Playoff last year, but when it comes to program value, nobody in the country can battle the Buckeyes.

Ohio State's program would be worth just over $1.5 billion if it could be put up for sale, according to Ryan Brewer, an associate professor of finance at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus. The results of Brewer's annual analysis were published Thursday in the Wall Street Journal and relayed by Mark Heim of AL.com.

Texas comes in a distant second at $1.24 billion and Oklahoma at just over $1 billion.

Rank School Worth ($)
1 Ohio State 1.51 billion
2 Texas 1.24 billion
3 Oklahoma 1.01 billion
4 Alabama 930 million
5 LSU 910 million
6 Michigan 892 million
7 Notre Dame 856 million
8 Georgia 822 million
9 Tennessee 745 million
10 Auburn 724 million

Despite winning last year's national championship, Clemson ranks 24th in terms of value, coming in at just over $328 million, one spot ahead of USC.

While Alabama ranks as the top SEC school at No. 4, the conference leads the way in average value at $523 million per program. The Big Ten ranks second at $416 million, while the Big 12 is third at $376 million.
