Goran Dragic is on top of the world after leading his native Slovenia to the EuroBasket title, scoring 35 points in the championship game against Serbia before announcing his retirement from international competition.

It was this gift from an unexpected source, though, that brought the 31-year-old's emotions to the surface, touching him to the point of tears.

Dragic was recently presented a Nets jersey of deceased basketball star Drazen Petrovic from Petrovic's own mother.

"It is one of the most beautiful gifts I’ve ever received in my life” Dragic told Slovenian outlet Siol, as translated by Sportando. "He was my idol. We all know what he did for Yugoslavia and the basketball world. It was a great honor for me to wear the jersey number three."

Petrovic was born in the former Yugoslavia, which broke up to create the nation which Dragic calls home. He played four seasons in the NBA, averaging 15.4 points and shooting 43.7 percent from 3-point range with both the Nets and Portland Trail Blazers before tragically dying in a car accident in 1993.
