State attorney expecting details on criminal case involving Florida players

Florida state attorney Bill Cervone revealed Tuesday that he is expecting to receive details pertaining to potential criminal investigation involving nine different Florida football players, according to Mark Schlabach of ESPN.

Sources have also told ESPN that university police are currently investigating multiple purchases made by the football players in question at the university bookstore, but that no charges have been laid against any of them as of yet.

The University of Florida will need to finish its investigation before handing the case over to Cervone and his office. It will be then that a decision is made by the office whether or not to pursue charges.

"Whatever they bring to me, we'll look at it and evaluate it as quickly as we can," Cervone said. "It seems to be a garden-variety credit card fraud situation that we get all year long. I don't think there's anything exceptional here, other than maybe the people involved."

Cervone specified that he expects the details to come by early next week, and added that he has been in contact with the university regarding an update on the case.
