ONE books 1st champion vs. champion bout for Nov. 10
ONE Championship is bringing a rare superfight to the Philippines.
The fledgling Asian promotion's lightweight champ Eduard Folayang will defend his crown against reigning featherweight king Martin Nguyen in the main event of ONE 64 on Nov. 10 at Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, officials announced Tuesday, per MMAjunkie's Dann Stupp.
The matchup will mark the first clash of champions in ONE's six-year history.
Folayang, 32, has called the promotion home since its inception and won the 155-pound strap with a third-round knockout of Shinya Aoki last November. He's since defended it in a unanimous decision over Ev Ting at ONE 54.
Nguyen has gotten his hand raised in all but one of his seven bouts under the ONE banner, avenging the lone defeat with a second-round knockout of Marat Gafurov that also crowned him featherweight champ in August. The 28-year-old makes his lightweight debut - in Folayang's home country - with nine stoppages in as many professional victories.
