Magic Johnson has been subpoenaed to testify as a witness in a former Michigan State football player's lawsuit against Draymond Green, according to court documents cited by the Bay Area News Group's David DeBolt.

Attorneys for Jermaine Edmondson want to ask Johnson about a tweet of support he sent out in the wake of Green's July 2016 arrest for allegedly assaulting Edmondson outside an East Lansing, Mich., bar.

Authorities dropped a misdemeanor assault charge against Green, who subsequently paid a $560 fine. Edmondson, who played cornerback for the Spartans football team from 2014-15, is suing Green for unspecified damages.

Like Green and Edmondson, Johnson is a Michigan State alumnus.

San Francisco 49ers receiver Aaron Burbridge has also been subpoenaed to testify, according to documents. Another Spartans alum, Burbridge is being asked to show text messages between himself and Green.
