Alabama players respond to Vanderbilt's Lealao calling them out

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Vanderbilt defensive lineman Nifae Lealao may want to be careful what he wishes for.

After moving to 3-0 with a win over Kansas State last weekend, Lealao said "Alabama, you’re next," in a postgame interview. Crimson Tide players took notice and responded Monday, though they didn't seem overly concerned.

"Theoretically, we are next on their schedule," quarterback Jalen Hurts said, according to Ryan Black of Saturday Down South. "We have to prepare and we have to get ready to play a good Vanderbilt team."

Alabama offensive lineman Bradley Bozeman said the comments won't impact his play.

"It happens everywhere," Bozeman said. "No matter where you play, people are going to talk trash. But you just move forward and you try to execute. You can’t play with emotion in this game."

Lealao tried to explain the comments Sunday, but the bulletin board material was already highly publicized.

Alabama's been to two straight national title games and probably doesn't need any added motivation to face the Commodores.
