Kings' Darcy Kuemper: Suffers overtime loss

Kuemper stopped seven of the nine shots he faced in an overtime loss to the Canucks on Saturday.

Analysis:

Kuemper was only scheduled to play the third period, but he lucked into some free hockey Saturday night. He will likely play more minutes as the regular season approaches since starter Jonathan Quick will likely be given more rest. Kuemper's poor showing isn't awful for a backup, but he'll need improvements if he wants to be seen as a long-term starter in the big league.
