Projected FedEx Cup top 30 after Day 3 of the BMW Championship

Rob Schumacher-USA TODAY Sports

Only one day remains for the field at Conway Farms Golf Club to get inside the top 30 of the FedEx Cup standings and earn a berth in the Tour Championship next week.

Phil Mickelson posted a 2-under 69 to inch closer to the cutline, but will need a big performance Sunday to force his way into East Lake. Joining him on the wrong side of the cutoff are Louis Oosthuizen, who fell seven spots to 31st, and Jason Dufner, who was 1-over par Saturday.

Here's a look at those hovering in or just outside the top 30 heading into Sunday's final round:

25 Patrick Cantlay 41 (+16) 1396
26 Russell Henley 23 (-3) 1390

Among other notables, Justin Rose is projected to finish 12th, while leader Marc Leishman is on track to rank fourth heading into next week's finale.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Rory McIlroy's season is essentially a formality in 51st place, while Tony Finau and Billy Horschel are other prominent figures on the outside looking in.
