Oregon State's Andersen: 'There's nobody more frustrated than I am'

It's been a rough start to the season for Oregon State, which has been outscored by 65 points over the Beavers' two losses, and it's already taking a toll on head coach Gary Andersen.

"There's nobody more frustrated than I am," Andersen told John Canzano of the Oregonian on his radio show Thursday. "... I'll do my best to keep banging there and keep fighting. I'll always have my kids' backs."

The Beavers are 1-2 as they prepare for a visit to unbeaten Washington State. Their one win came against Portland State, an FCS opponent. Their lopsided defeats came at the hands of Colorado State and Minnesota, two programs Oregon State should at least be able to compete with.

"This team has had some tough times come its way," said Andersen, who's in his third season with the Pac-12 program and owns a 7-20 record with the Beavers.

He added, "I'm not going to be a guy who is going to yell and scream, whine and cry. ... We come back on Monday and we learn on Monday from the good and the bad, win or lose."

Andersen signed a contract extension through the 2021 season over the offseason, but has struggled to make significant progress in his attempted rebuild of the Beavers.

The road ahead doesn't look any easier for Andersen and Co., as Oregon State follows its trip to Washington State with games against Washington and USC.
