Mohamed Salah was sent home from Tuesday's training session due to illness.

Liverpool is undergoing preparations ahead of its Champions League curtain-raiser Wednesday against Sevilla, and now Salah is at risk of missing that clash after sitting out pre-match drills at Melwood.

The Egyptian's potential absence places greater emphasis on Philippe Coutinho's possible return to the first-team fold. Coutinho is yet to feature competitively for Liverpool this term after his club warded off bids from Barcelona over the summer, but Jurgen Klopp revealed the wantaway star is back in contention after a brief exile.

In Coutinho's stead, Klopp's preferred front three has been Roberto Firmino flanked by Sadio Mane and Salah. Salah picked up the club's Player of the Month award for August, but will now likely be replaced by Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge, Dominic Solanke, versatile newcomer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, or teenager Ben Woodburn for Sevilla's Group E visit.
