Report: Lineker gets Vera at UFC Sao Paulo

UFC Fight Night 119 has another solid addition to its card.

A bantamweight tilt between John Lineker and Marlon Vera has been booked for the Oct. 28 event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, MMA Fighting's Guilherme Cruz confirmed with sources Tuesday following a report from Combate.

The booking comes mere days after Lineker took to Twitter to challenge fellow top-10 fixture Bryan Caraway to square off on the bill. The lengthy exchange didn't amount to much, as the pair couldn't settle on a date.

Recurring weight-management issues aside, the 27-year-old Lineker has been a veritable force since moving up to 135 pounds two years ago, winning four straight before falling to former champ TJ Dillashaw at UFC 207 in his most recent outing. The heavy-handed Brazilian returns to his home country with a promotional record of 10-3.

Vera heads into his toughest test yet with a UFC slate of 4-2. The 24-year-old Ecuadorian has won three straight and is coming off back-to-back stoppages of Brad Pickett and Brian Kelleher. Only one of Vera's last three bouts has been contested at bantamweight.

The October card will be headlined by a middleweight tilt between the returning Lyoto Machida and Derek Brunson.
