Crystal Palace enduring one of worst starts in English history

Crystal Palace is the first English outfit since Preston North End in 1924-25 to open a top-flight campaign with four losses without scoring a goal.

The Eagles failed to breach a resolute Burnley side in Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Turf Moor, despite totalling 23 shots in Lancashire. Just five of those efforts were on target.
There was an expectant home support after Crystal Palace suffered losses to Huddersfield Town, Liverpool, and Swansea City to begin the league season, and also barely squeezed a League Cup win past an Ipswich Town side which featured nine players aged 20 or younger.
In his first start for the Clarets, Chris Wood delivered for the locals when he met Chung-yong Lee's disastrous backpass with a first-time 30-yard finish past a stranded Wayne Hennessey. Burnley then stood firm, with James Tarkowski especially solid in Sean Dyche's back four.

De Boer, who also opted for a defensive quartet for Sunday's clash, will hope to still be in Crystal Palace's technical area for Saturday's visit from Southampton.
