Rudy Gay fires back at Twitter troll who says he's 'washed up'

Jennifer Stewart-USA TODAY Sports

Being labelled "washed up" in sports means your glory days are a thing of the past, and all that's left is a shell of what you once were.

Rudy Gay isn't exactly ready to fall under such a category, taking a sarcastic shot at a Twitter troll Saturday morning who asked who is more "washed up" between the current San Antonio Spurs forward and New Orleans Pelicans guard Rajon Rondo:

Gay only played 30 games last season for the Sacramento Kings, but when he was on the hardwood he was pretty efficient on the offensive end, contributing averages of 18.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.5 steals on 45.5 percent shooting and 37.2 percent from 3-point range.

Now beginning anew with the Spurs, Gay is ready to prove his doubters wrong and thrive in his new surroundings, telling reporters in July that he's "going to have the best comeback ever."

Washed up? Not yet, anyway.
