Raiders place Janikowski on IR

Oakland Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski was placed on injured reserve Saturday, the team announced.

Janikowski had been dealing with a herniated disc in his back, reports NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The team release adds that the Raiders signed kicker Giorgio Tavecchio to the active roster. He spent parts of the past four seasons with the Raiders and went 9-for-11 on field goal attempts in preseason play from 2014-17.

Janikowski won't be able to practice with the team any earlier than Week 6, with his return to play held back until at least Week 8.
