The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) is speaking up for French football.

On Wednesday, the LFP published a communique, condemning the "insulting remarks" from La Liga's president, Javier Tebas Medrano, in which Paris Saint-Germain was accused of "laughing" at Financial Fair Play rules.

"The Ligue de Football Professionnel strongly condemns the insulting remarks made today by the president of La Liga, M. Javier Tebas, concerning Paris Saint-Germain," the release reads.

"These unworthy remarks do not live up to height of an institution as respectable and efficient as the Spanish Liga.

"The Ligue de Football Professionnel notes that UEFA is authorised to rule on the compliance of Financial Fair Play rules by PSG. The Bureau of the LFP has reaffirmed its support for Paris Saint-Germain in the face of a campaign of denigration that has been going on for several weeks by some some big European clubs.

"At the beginning of the season, the LFP welcomes the attractiveness of Ligue 1 Conforama. The very active market of French clubs, and especially that of PSG's, contributes to bettering the show in Ligue 1 Conforama. Thanks to these investments, Ligue 1 Conforama has registered a very good start marked by an increase in the number of goals, as well as a very clear rise in audiences and crowds."

In reference to PSG's €222-million signing of Neymar, Tebas said, according to the Press Association: "We've caught (PSG) peeing in the swimming pool and Neymar is peeing off the diving board."

The accusation came at the Soccerex Global Conference two days after Tebas declared that Manchester City and PSG are benefiting from state aid, which "distorts European competitions are creates an inflationary spiral that is irreparably harming the football industry." UEFA stated there is no investigation into the Citizens with regards to Financial Fair Play regulations, while the Investigatory Chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body opened a formal investigation into the French club.
