San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey made an early exit from Tuesday's game against the Colorado Rockies, departing in obvious pain in the eighth inning after taking a foul tip off his right hand.

X-rays on his hand came back negative, however, and the five-time All-Star is considered day to day with a finger contusion, Giants manager Bruce Bochy confirmed following his club's 9-6 loss at Coors Field.

Asked to summarize the Giants' woeful season after his early departure, Posey struggled to adequately articulate his frustration.

"I don't really have words for it," Posey told Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area. "'Disappointing' is probably not strong enough."

Posey, frankly, has been one of the few bright spots amid San Francisco's miserable campaign, as the former National League MVP has hit .317/.404/.465 (130 OPS+) with 12 homers, 27 doubles, and five stolen bases through 121 games heading into Tuesday's contest.
