CM Punk could soon be making another walk to the cage, says his coach.

Roufusport head man Duke Roufus took to Instagram on Monday to reveal both the former WWE superstar and UFC lightweight John Makdessi are "awaiting fight confirmations."

Punk's return to the cage will presumably come under the UFC banner, having signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion nearly three years ago, although president Dana White didn't appear too high on seeing him grace the Octagon again after he was steamrolled by welterweight Mickey Gall in his long-awaited debut at UFC 203 last September.

Despite "feverishly" campaigning for another fight in four-ounce gloves earlier this year, the closest the former pro wrestler has come to competing professionally was in MTV's reality competition "The Challenge" this past spring.

Makdessi, a 13-fight UFC veteran, last saw an injury scrap his July date with Sage Northcutt at UFC 214. The 32-year-old fell to Lando Vannata by first-round KO at UFC 206 in his last outing.
