Son of Alabama wide receivers coach Mike Locksley dies

Tragedy struck the Alabama football family on Sunday, as Meiko Locksley, son of the team's wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator, Mike Locksley, was shot and killed in Columbia, Md.

He was 25.

Howard County (Md.) police confirmed in an official statement that residents heard a single gunshot in the Columbia neighborhood, and that Locksley was located outside, according to A.J. Perez of USA TODAY Sports. He was transported to, and later died at, the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

In an official statement, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban offered condolences and support from the entire Alabama program.

"Mike Locksley, our receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator, his son was killed," Saban said. "I just want everyone to understand that our thoughts and prayers go out to Mike and his family. We will do everything we can to support him during this time."
