Watch: Spieth, Thomas trade eagles early in Boston

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas are good friends, but early in the final round they're going toe-to-toe at the Dell Technologies Championship.

Spieth opened his round with a birdie at No. 1, then laced his approach at the par-5 second to eight feet, and brushed home the eagle putt. The Texan wouldn't be finished trimming strokes, making back-to-back birdies at Nos. three and four, moving him to 15-under for the event.

Thomas would answer back with a birdie at the second, and then dropped a 32-foot eagle putt at the short par-4 fourth, grabbing a share of the lead with Spieth and Marc Leishman.

According to pgatour.com, after hearing the roar from Thomas' eagle putt, Spieth said to his caddie Michael Greller, "This is gonna be a shootout, Mikey."
