Sumlin on collapse to UCLA: 'We didn't get it done as coaches

Kevin Sumlin isn't making excuses.

After Texas A&M blew a 34-point lead Sunday night to UCLA, Sumlin took the blame for his team's stunning collapse.

"You don't explain it," Sumlin said. "We're not making excuses for anything. We didn't get it done as coaches."

UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen orchestrated a miraculous second-half comeback, throwing for nearly 500 yards and four touchdowns on the night, as the Bruins rallied from a 34-point deficit. Rosen's final two scores were not your average scoring plays, coming on a low-percentage heave to the end zone and a fake-spike play.

"We've got some young guys," Sumlin added. "We need to put them in position. Rosen put some balls up late...we didn't come down with them."

Sumlin came into the season on the hot seat and there's already one regent that wants him gone, but for now it's just business as usual for the 53-year-old.

"It's frustrating," Sumlin said. "I have to watch the tape. You have two choices. But tomorrow, the sun comes up. We have to go back to work. You have to put this behind you. You have to make sure of what you're doing. It's our job to fix this as coaches. It's my job."
