Auburn suspends Pettway, White, Davis vs. Georgia Southern

Jasen Vinlove / USA TODAY Sports

Auburn will open its regular season shorthanded, as the Tigers have suspended running back Kamryn Pettway, quarterback Sean White, and wide receiver Kyle Davis for Saturday's opener against Georgia Southern, according to Justin Ferguson of SEC Country, citing an Auburn spokesman.

Head coach Gus Malzahn did not address any suspensions within the team earlier in the week, proclaiming "we expected everybody to be ready to go."

White is entering the season as the backup to offseason addition Jarrett Stidham after throwing for 1,679 yards and nine touchdowns as the primary starter for the Tigers last season.

Pettway is coming off a season in which he rushed for 1,224 yards and seven touchdowns, while Davis is looking to build on a productive freshman season in which he racked up 248 yards and two touchdowns on 12 catches.
