The University of Virginia will wear a patch featuring the motto #HOOSTOGETHER for the 2017 season. Director of athletics Craig Littlepage said in a statement that the social media campaign was started "in an effort unite our community in support of love, diversity and inclusion."
The patch will be worn by all of the school's sports teams and will serve as a reminder for the violent protests which took place in Charlottesville earlier this summer.
The football team will debut the patch in its game against William & Mary on Saturday.
