Manchester City reportedly failed to break the impasse.

According to The Telegraph's James Ducker, Arsenal rejected a £50-million bid from City for Alexis Sanchez. BBC Sport's David Ornstein reported that the Gunners rebuffed all approaches from the Citizens for the Chilean attacker, as their stance remains that the footballer is not for sale unless "huge money" and a player are offered.

City is apparently expected to make an improved bid for Sanchez and favours a straight cash deal. Arsenal, meanwhile, is allegedly thought to be interested in Raheem Sterling, who is understood to be open to a move in the belief that that he'll be pushed further down the pecking order by the product of Cobreloa. Per the Guardian's David Hytner, the English winger, who joined the Citizens from Liverpool in 2015 for a reported transfer fee that marked a British record at £49 million, was informed that he can leave.

Sanchez made his season debut on Sunday as Arsenal suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield. He was seen crouching down by the touchline after Mohamed Salah produced the Reds' third goal, cut off from the rest of his teammates. His body language was as negative as ever and the match served as a reminder of why he apparently wishes to leave the Emirates Stadium.

Cooperativa reported that the president of the Asociacion Nacional de Futbol Profesional, Arturo Salah, spoke to Juan Antonio Pizzi, who denied reports of Sanchez asking to leave Chile's training camp. La Roja will face Paraguay on Thursday in a 2018 World Cup qualifier at Estadio Monumental with incredibly high stakes, and La Tercera alleged that the player had asked for permission to leave practice on Wednesday.
