NCAA ends Harbaugh's charade, releases Michigan roster

Despite Jim Harbaugh's best efforts to keep it a secret, on Tuesday the NCAA released Michigan's roster ahead of the upcoming season.

Michigan squares off against Florida in a titanic non-conference opener Saturday, but refused to announce its official roster. While the Wolverines aren't required to release their rosters, it's standard procedure for teams to make the information available.

Harbaugh engaged in an act of gamesmanship earlier this week, producing a list of the program's NFL alumni, listing it as the "2017 Team Roster."

Markedly unimpressed with Harbaugh's tactics, NJ Advance Media filed a public records request to obtain the Wolverines' roster.

Florida head coach Jim McElwain took a shot at Harbaugh, believing Michigan's head coach to be engaging in a publicity stunt.

"Each guy's his own. He obviously felt they needed to do some things to become relevant, that was his choice," McElwain said via Nick Baumgardner of The Detroit Free Press. "It was probably not something I'd do."

With his player list exposed by the NCAA, Harbaugh officially released the Wolverines roster on Twitter at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.
