Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Jung Ho Kang was added to a winter league team's roster in the Dominican Republic on Tuesday, according to a release from the Aguilas Cibaenas.

Just last week, Pirates general manager Neal Huntington confirmed to reporters that the team was working on having Kang play winter ball.

Kang hasn't played since the end of the 2016 MLB season after pleading guilty to a DUI charge in his home country of South Korea back in March. The 30-year-old was sentenced to eight months in prison for leaving the scene of a DUI accident, but had the sentence suspended for two years. Kang also had his license revoked after being previously caught for DUIs in 2009 and 2011.

Chicago police also investigated a claim of sexual assault against Kang made in July of last year.

Kang will join Toronto Blue Jays catching prospect Reese McGuire and Atlanta Braves infielder Ozzie Albies on the Dominican league team.

In 229 games with the Pirates over two seasons, Kang has slashed .273/.355/.483 with 36 home runs and eight stolen bases.

The Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League gets underway in the middle of October.
