Michelle Wie was forced to withdraw from a tournament for the second time in her last four starts Sunday.

Wie was six shots off the lead, after rounds of 71-68-70 at the Canadian Pacific Women's Open, but withdrew to undergo emergency surgery to remove her appendix in Ottawa.

"Michelle Wie will have surgery to remove her appendix today at Ottawa Hospital," said IMG, her agency, in a statement. "Further details on her condition will be provided when available."

The 27-year-old hasn't won an LPGA event since the 2014 U.S. Women's Open, but has registered seven top 10s this season.

Wie helped the U.S. retain the Solheim Cup last week with a 1-2-0 record in Iowa.
